NEW YORK – Ayad Akhtar's acclaimed caller “Homeland Elegies," Ben Ehrenreich's biology informing “Desert Notebooks,” and an illustrated variation of the precocious William Melvin Kelley's postmodern communicative “Dunfords Travels Everywheres” are among this year's winners of American Book Awards for works that item the country's diversity.
